Process, Craftsmanship & Results

From surface survey to final protection coat — a look inside the Aquaseal waterproofing system, and the projects it has protected.

Our Methodology

The Aquaseal Waterproofing Process

Every project follows the same disciplined, standards-based application system.

Seepage & Leakage Survey
01

Seepage & Leakage Survey

Any leakages or seepage from washrooms, ducts, kitchen sinks, balcony gardens, AC vents, damaged concealed plumbing, slab-wall joints, or improper slopes on terraces leading to water logging are attended to by experts before painting begins. Proper slopes on balconies, terraces, parapets and window tops are maintained so rain and other water drains out efficiently.

Surface Cleaning
02

Surface Cleaning

The surface is washed with clean, soft water followed by a wire/coir brush and metal scrapers to remove loose, peeling paint, chalking, algae, fungus, moss, grease, dirt, dust, bird droppings and accumulated soil from balcony gardens.

Crack Filling
03

Crack Filling

Bigger cracks (over 3mm) are widened in a V-shape and filled with an appropriate cement-based crack filling mixture, or a suitable range of crack fillers, followed by re-plastering, hole filling, levelling and structural repair where needed.

Holes, Dents & Levelling
04

Holes, Dents & Levelling

Holes, dents and mould marks are filled with a white or black cement fine-sand paste, or an exterior cement-based poly putty. The surface is carefully levelled to remove any major (over 3mm) holes and dents, giving a finished, level appearance.

Waterproofing Basecoat
05

Waterproofing Basecoat

One coat of waterproof basecoat is applied with a brush or roller, with zero dilution, and left to dry for a minimum of 6–8 hours before the first coat is applied.

1st & 2nd Coat Application
06

1st & 2nd Coat Application

The first and second coats are applied with a brush or roller, thinned 30–40%, with a minimum drying time of 4–6 hours between coats for a durable, even finish.

Special Protection Coat
07

Special Protection Coat

For added assurance, Aquaseal recommends a special transparent protection coat over the finished waterproofing system for extra durability against leakage.

Terrace Waterproofing & Surface Preparation
08

Terrace Waterproofing & Surface Preparation

Proper cleaning (no dust, grease, algae, dried or flaked paint), washing, and repair of loose plaster and structural cracks as per standard construction practice. Gaps between chips are filled with suitable crack fillers, an initial priming coat is applied, and undiluted waterproofing coats follow — all per Aquaseal’s application system.

Layered System

Podium Waterproofing

Our podium waterproofing system is built layer by layer, from the concrete slab up to the finished paving, for a durable, leak-resistant deck that stands up to years of foot traffic and weather.

Specialised Application

Terrace Waterproofing

Terraces face the harshest exposure of any surface — sun, rain and standing water. Our terrace waterproofing system combines proper surface preparation, crack repair, priming and multiple undiluted waterproofing coats to deliver long-term protection, finished per Aquaseal’s company application system.
